Camping and Crane-ing

CRANE COUNT:109 (well, that is a little bit of a lie, because I accidentally skipped 108...oopss! Don'y worry. I'll go back and give someone 108 before I do 110)
DONATIONS: $2.10

I hope everyone had an awesome Memorial Day! I don't know about you, but I'm starting (haha) to feel the after effects of mine. A couple days on the lake = major sunburn! I think I'm literally the reddest I have ever been. Too bad it's not Halloween, or I could dress up as a tomato, and no one would no the difference!;)

Also, a night sleeping out under the starts = beautiful star gazing, but not very good sleep. Especially in a campground where no one feels like sleeping and you are rudely awakened at 8:00 by the voices of two little 6-year-old twin boys who are staring down at you wondering "What's SHE doing here..."
"Why is she on the grass?"
"Why did you sleep outside?!"

Oh well...my back was sick of being poked by rocks anyways! Here are the new crane editions. I made one out of a Einstein Bros menu, but failed to give it to anyone lol. I blame it on the much-too-early hour of 8:00 in the morning.

105-Mr. Beard!! Caption contest, anyone? I think any caption  I think of would fail to do this picture justice lol

106- Nicole. Congrats on graduation! Her crane was made out of wrapping paper and officially gets the "Most Colorful Crane" award so far:) Thank you so much to Nicole<3- she was the first to give a donation for her crane.

107- Michaela and her map crane. Thank you to her too...donation number two!!

109- Daniel. After driving an hour and a half or so to go camping, we found that we had forgotten anything to eat for lunch except about four bags of chips, a loaf of bread, and some uncooked sausages....smart, no? So, after setting up our tent (which takes a couple hours, being an old Cub Scouts tent with no instructions), we drove the pickup to the nearest store that might possibly sell food- a little convenience store/gas station/deli/pizza place. You have be multipurpose in small town Indiana! But sometimes, it's the most unexpected places that you have the best experiences.

To get out of the heat, we sat in the back of the store at an old picnic table, enjoying our cold sandwiches wrapped in waxed paper next to the man above, who was busy reading his worn bible. Soon, though, my sister, Dad, and the man, who introduced himself as Daniel, were busy having a conversation, and I found that he was a construction worker. As we ate, I made him a crane out of a pizza menu.

Well, that's it for now. I've got a cold and severe sunburn (lol) so I probably won't be out of the house crane-ing in the next couple days.

PS I noticed in my stats that I have had views from Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Singapore, Bulgaria, India, and of course the United States. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for reading!!! =D

CRANE COUNT: 104

Ehh, as you can see, not much progress in the number count! However, I decided I should get this started on facebook, since it is a lot easier to share/check than blogs. Instead of creating a page, I made it into a cause. Please check it out here, "become a member," and invite your friends!!

Currently, I have it set so that donations go to the American Red Cross, and I can't figure out how to change it so they get sent directly to Japan. But I'll figure it out..if you have an idea on how to do it, comment!:)  Here are some pictures missing from before that I now have...
19- Saved for Lora on her 19th birthday:)
51- Andrew
52- Katie
53- Claire
And one new one for today!
104- Nathan
If you want to see the entire crane collection, you can see it here. Or you can see my facebook album here.

Love from yours truly<3

Why hello again:)

CRANE COUNT: 103

I'M BACK!! After prom, graduation, countless end-of-year events, etc (not to mention midnight release of Pirates of the Caribbean, on Stranger Tides!!), I can finally get back to blogging. And yes, you read correctly...I am now officially done with high school...yess!

Now, time to get ready for summer and college this fall, plan my piano students' end-of-year recital, and look for a another summer job maybe. As you probably noticed, I broke 100 while on my little blogging sabbatical. Here our the newly-craned... ;) ( I think I'll try to create a new verb: "to be craned."  Sample sentence: "Yo, dude, I think you've been craned!" I'm not sure how it should be defined yet, however. Something along the lines of Awesomeness...)

84- at Meijer
85- at a Chinese restaurant (sorry...blurry cell phone picture!)

86- Little Natalie
87- Steban at Steak 'n Shake
88- Chad at Steak 'n Shake (and no, not at the same one lol. I seem to go to steak 'n shake way too often!)
90- Sammie!
91- Hannah, Ball State buddies next year!
92- Ben at Starbucks, who told me about their awesome program for helping quake victims in Japan
93- Lateasa (love the name!) at Marsh
94- at the Monon Coffee Shop (forgot to ask her name!) It was really cute. I had made a crane out of a paper napkin before I had even started this project and left it on a table at the coffee shop after I finished eating. On the day I gave her a crane,  I noticed she set crane 94 next to another white crane on the counter...she had kept the last one I left:)
95- Susan having a staring contest...too bad I don't give my cranes eyes;)
96- Emilo at Qdoba. Not sure he understood what the heck I was doing, but I told him he got number 96, and he gave me a big smile!
97- Whitcha at my favorite restaurant, Jasmine Thai (BEST Asian food in Indy, I would have to say)
98- Kyle at Steak 'n Shake (3rd so far!) who I will always remember for his amazing memory. Once all of us had ordered (without him taking any notes), he listed off at top speed everyone's orders. It was pretty impressive to say the least. Apparently he never takes notes and almost never has a complaint!
99- Olivia before the midnight release of Pirates..nice hat;)
100- Robert, fellow graduate
101- Chesley! (pronounced chess-lee by the way)
102- Nicole et ses amis a Steak 'n Shake yet again...!
103 Erica at Bazbeaux Pizza

Just sharing the love around

CRANE COUNT: 83 (8.3 percent)

That's it...first round of finals are over! I've had wayy too much caffeine and too little sleep in the last couple days...! Isn't it odd that as a preschooler, naps were of the highest degree of evil, while now in high school/college, you look forward to naps? I'm not ashamed..I love my naps:)

Well I'm pretty proud of myself- haven't slacked off too much from the crane mission. Getting close to 100!!

I've finally decided on the perfect crane-speech for strangers:

"Hey, could you help me with a project? I'm trying to fold 1,000 origami peace cranes and give them to 1,000 different people. Could you take crane ___?" Usually they're totally confused at first, then really love the idea once they realize exactly what I'm doing.

My favorite part of this project is has to be seeing people's reactions. They range from totally excited.."DUHH of course you can take my picture for your blog!!" to confused...(I think the Goodwill girl still gets the prize for that one)...to refusal..

Sometime, I just want to go to a crowded public place (mall, downtown Indy, concert, ect.) and randomly hand out cranes. In some ways I was sorta inspired by the whole the free hugs idea which I have always thought was really cute and creative. Make a "free cranes" t-shirt? Idk...but I think that would be pretty fun.

These are the cranes I've made since last post: (some are missing cuz people have to send me their pictures, and some numbers are saved as a special request)

61- Carla and Cindy at the Fishers library
62- Misty

63- Peter's crane made out of a Starbucks rewards thing

64- Bridget finally gets a crane!

65- Josie (she's a pirate!) OHHH reminds me...totally getting psyched for the next Pirates of the Caribbean!! Coming out May 20th. Which just so happens to be the same day as prom. Gonna be a busy weekend! Only problem is that i can't find the AWESOME replica Jack Sparrow pirate hat I made last year....twas complete with spray paint and antiqued by running the car over it. I spent a lot of time on that hat so I'd better find it!!

66- Laurel

67- Bernadette...matching crane and shirt:)

68- Jimmy..there's something on my head, you tell me?

69- Marshall and the fedora

70- Amy
71- Mary

72- Erin

73- Rosemary

75- Matt

76- Eddie

79- Alex

80- Jake from Party City..crane made out of a coupon. I even got him to wear a sombrero!

Oh and I got a new hairstyle. You like??

Haha...just kidding:)

I think the red suits pretty well. A Fine Frenzy look maybe?;) Gray hair could be the new thing too!

K, done with the wigs and back to cranes...

81- Becca

82- Librarian at the Carmel Library...can you tell I've been doing a lot of studying recently?=P

last but no least, no. 83 goes to Amy!

PEACE (cranes) y'all!!

PS. PLEASE do not judge me on my math skills of earlier posts! In case you didn't notice, 50 is not 0.05 percent of 1,000 (duh). That's what four years of high school math gives you..the inability to correctly calculate percentages=P or it could also be lack of sleep or complete stupidity. Either way:)
